Grimes County Scheduled and Actual Release Dates
A projected release date is TDCJ's estimate of when a prisoner may leave custody, based on sentence information and the release type then available. It is not a promise. The actual release date is the recorded day release occurred. Maximum Expiration Date is the date the sentence is projected to be complete, but parole or mandatory supervision may produce an earlier conditional release.
A person awaiting trial in the Grimes County Jail generally has no computed prison-release date. Bond, dismissal, a court order, jail credit, disposition, another hold, or transfer can determine the outcome. Even after a judge acts, the Sheriff must receive and verify paperwork, check other matters, and finish release processing.

Grimes County Jail Dates Come From Court and Jail Records
The Sheriff publishes no verified online roster or historical release-date feed. A county sentence date should be checked against the judgment and jail record, while a pretrial case may change whenever a bond, dismissal, plea, or new hold arrives. The Sheriff says an oral report of what a judge announced does not authorize immediate exit; jail staff wait for proper paperwork and complete required checks.
For an existing record, request the person's full name, date of birth or booking number if known, approximate date range, booking time, release time, release type, releasing authority, bond, holds, and transfer notation. Send a narrow county PIA request to PIA@grimescountytexas.gov or use Sheriff Records at records@grimescountytexas.gov. The county need not calculate a date or create a new report.
What Changes a Grimes County Release Date
A release date can move for reasons that arise from the sentence, the person's conduct, another agency, or the release plan. The public field cannot show every unresolved step.

Good Time and Grimes County TDCJ Dates
Texas Government Code section 498.003 describes good-conduct time as a privilege, not a right. It affects eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision rather than shortening the judicial sentence itself. Government Code sections 508.145 and 508.149 govern eligibility computations and mandatory-supervision exclusions. The law in effect on the offense date controls, and offense type can materially change the result.
Texas has no universal rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent of a sentence. A generic online sentence calculator can miss the offense date, enhancement, consecutive sentence, mandatory-supervision exclusion, jail credit, or disciplinary history. Use the official TDCJ computed field and Board status instead.
TDCJ reviews release prerequisites that can include the residence plan, county requirements, discipline, special needs, mandatory-supervision status, required programs, and special conditions. Case File Coordination updates the system when discharge occurs. A release certificate or discharge entry is stronger proof than a date copied before those steps finish.
Parole Review Is Not a Grimes County Release Date
Initial parole eligibility means the case may be considered; it does not set a physical exit. Texas Board panels review files individually rather than holding a person-specific formal hearing. A favorable FI vote may require a program, transfer, or condition. An NR vote denies release and sets another review month and year. RMS approves mandatory supervision, while DMS denies it and sets later review.

Confirm a Grimes County Actual Release
State IVSS may display Expected Release Date and Actual Release Date and can send an upcoming or completed release notice. Register before the event when practical, save the alert, and compare it with TDCJ's later record. The separate county IVSS service may alert on a Grimes County Jail booking or release, but a former detainee can disappear from search.
For documentary proof, use the agency release record, certificate, or court order. TDCJ says a person completing prison or parole may receive a Discharge Certificate or Parole Certificate, while a state-jail release receives a Proof of Incarceration Letter. County proof comes from the Sheriff booking/release event plus the signed court document explaining its authority. This pairing also guards against mistaking a transfer for freedom.
Read Grimes County Release Terms Precisely
The label attached to a date determines what it means. Bond ordinarily means the person left physical county custody while the criminal case and bond conditions continued. Time served reflects a judicial disposition or credit satisfying a jail term. Sentence complete or discharge identifies the end of a custodial term, although another legal duty may remain. Parole and mandatory supervision are conditional TDCJ releases with an unexpired sentence under supervision.
Transfer is not community release. It can move a person from the Grimes County Jail to TDCJ, another county, a federal authority, or another placement. An outside warrant or immigration action can also produce a direct handoff. Because the Sheriff does not disclose transfer information, request the public release disposition or releasing authority and search the likely receiving system.
Court and custody dates should be read together. The signed order explains what the judge authorized, while the jail or TDCJ record states when custody changed. An oral announcement, short docket label, or disappearance from a current-only search does not replace that pair.

Federal and Immigration Date Checks From Grimes County
No federal prison or ICE detention center was verified in Grimes County. For a sentenced federal prisoner, the BOP locator can show Release Date and Location. A location of RELEASED means the person left BOP custody, not necessarily that all supervision or other custody ended. A future date is projected, while UNKNOWN means BOP cannot yet determine the confinement term.
ICE's locator is current-custody oriented and is not a historical release archive. A missing result can reflect spelling, transfer, removal, release, recent custody, age, or an unavailable record.
