A booking photograph records appearance at arrest or intake. Release does not by itself erase that arrest record, but public access depends on the record's custodian and current law. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, includes photographs among public-information media. Use the Grimes County PIA Route
The county-wide alternative is PIA@grimescountytexas.gov. Name the Sheriff's Office or Jail as the likely custodian and ask for responsive records electronically. Texas law does not require the county to answer questions, research a person's history, or compile a new format. A narrow request is faster to understand and less likely to generate avoidable cost.

The Grimes County Sheriff App Does Not Prove Mugshot Access
The official Android application is called Grimes County Sheriff TX and is published by OCV, LLC. Its public store listing describes crime reports, tips, interactive features, and public-safety information. It does not advertise an inmate search, a recent-release list, or mugshots.
That gap matters because sheriff apps in other places may include jail tools, but features cannot be transferred from one county to another. Verify the live app before saying it contains booking photos. If the app later adds such a module, confirm who publishes the data, whether released people remain visible, how long records stay, and whether the displayed image is the booking photograph.
TDCJ Photos for Released Grimes County Prisoners
A person held at Wallace Pack Unit or O. L. Luther Unit was in TDCJ custody. Physical location near Navasota does not make the state photograph a Grimes County Jail record. TDCJ's basic email information service will not supply photographs, so use the agency's formal public-information process when requesting one.

Ask for the existing offender photograph with enough identity detail to locate the file. Release status should be verified separately through state IVSS, a certificate, or TDCJ incarceration history.
A DPS sex-offender or violent-offender registry can display a more recent photograph for a person who meets that registry's statutory test. It is not a jail-photo archive. Registry presence proves a registration entry, not a Grimes County release event, and registry absence says nothing conclusive about arrest or release.
Grimes County Mugshots on News and Commercial Pages
A booking image may remain on a news article or third-party page after an official source changes. Such pages can be incomplete, stale, mislabeled, or detached from the final court result. Treat them as leads only. Compare the name, booking date, charge, and agency with the official booking and court records.
No commercial mugshot publisher or data broker is linked here. Paying a removal service does not alter the government record, and a private site's policy should not be mistaken for Texas expunction law. When a page is inaccurate, preserve the page address and the official correction, then use that publisher's dispute procedure.
Texas Photo-Publisher Rules for Grimes County Records
Texas Business & Commerce Code Chapter 109 regulates a defined group of publishing businesses, not the Sheriff. It includes arrest and involvement photographs within criminal record information. Covered conduct includes charging at least $150 for removal, charging a fee to correct or modify information, or publishing protected child or juvenile material, subject to statutory exclusions.
A covered publisher must offer a clear dispute channel, verify the issue with the appropriate agency without charge, and complete the review within 45 business days. If the information is incomplete or inaccurate, it must promptly correct or remove it without charge and provide a written result within five business days after the investigation. This is not a universal right to erase every accurate mugshot.
Expunction Notice Given at Grimes County Release
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 55A.451 creates an unusual release-stage right. The person responsible for release or discharge must give each released arrested person a written explanation of Chapter 55A expunction rights and a copy of the chapter. That notice is not an expunction order and does not guarantee eligibility.
Once an expunction order is final, Article 55A.401 generally prohibits release, maintenance, dissemination, or use of the expunged records. Article 55A.402 addresses knowing release or use and failure to obliterate. An order of nondisclosure is different because it restricts public dissemination while preserving access for authorized uses.
